Box Score

RADNOR, PA - Johns Hopkins battled Cabrini to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday night in non-conference action. The Blue Jays move to 5-2-1 on the year while the Cavaliers are now 4-1-1. For the Blue Jays it is their first draw since Nov. 4, 2006.

After a scoreless first half that saw Cabrini goalie Bryan Johnson make 10 saves, the teams put up four in the second half. Mike McDevitt put Cabrini on the board first, scoring off a rebound in the 49th minute. The Blue Jays answered less than two minutes later after a give-and-go between seniors Akash Naik (Simpsonville, SC/Hillcrest) and Nick Gauna (Evanston, IL/Evanston). Naik scored off the pass from Gauna and the scored was tied.

Sophomore Scott Bukoski (Sagamore, MA/Bourne) gave the Blue Jays the lead in the 66th minute when he put home a rebound off a shot from sophomore Evan Kleinberg (South Orange, NJ/Columbia). Hopkins looked like it was going to take home the win until Cabrini's Eric Collins scored in the 83rd minute.

Hopkins outshot Cabrini 6-2 in the overtime, but neither team would find the net again. Junior Matt Mierley (Weston, FL/St. Thomas Aquinas) finished with six saves, while Johnson finished with 16. Bukoski's goal was the 27th of his careeer, moving him into a tie for 10th in program history.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 20 as it opens its Centennial Conference slate against #11 Swarthmore. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 pm at Homewood Field.
