Box Score

BALTIMORE, MD - The 18th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's soccer team downed visiting Neumann, 4-1, in a rainy affair Wednesday evening at Homewood Field. The Blue Jays remain unbeaten on the season, improving to 4-0-0, while the Knights slip to 1-2-0. Junior Scott Bukoski (Sagamore, MA/Bourne) notched his third consecutive multi-goal game, scoring a pair, including the game-winner.

Junior Chris Wilson (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) put the Blue Jays on the board in the 18th minute with his first career goal. Junior Evan Kleinberg (South Orange, NJ/Columbia) got things going from the left touchline, sending a nice centering pass to senior Evan Giles (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL/Episcopal). Giles turned on the ball and touched it to Wilson near the right corner of the Knights' box. Wilson dribbled in a few feet and lofted the ball over the head of Zac Ratliff, who had come off his line.

Wilson added an assist to his earlier goal to help push Hopkins lead to 2-0 in the 34th minute. Freshman Jun Park (Cary, NC/Cary Academy) played a nice ball into the right corner where Wilson ran onto it and centered it in front of the Neumann goal. Bukoski then headed it inside the far post for his team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Neumann finally got on the board in the 56th minute with a Zach Sell tally. The Crusaders fired a shot over the head of senior goalie Ravi Gill (Morganville, NJ/Marlboro) and it looked to be heading in. But senior Nate Wysk (Dunedin, FL/Palm Harbor University) raced back and cleared it off the line. The ball ricocheted out to Sell, however, who fired it past the Gill to make it a 2-1 game.

Bukoski pushed the Blue Jays lead back to two with his second of the night in the 65th minute. Wilson dribbled down the right side to the endline and centered the ball into Bukoski, who one-touched it in. Kleinberg then made it a three-goal game in the 70th minute with his third of the season. He collected a loose ball near the top of the Neumann box, dribbled in and snuck a shot inside the left post making it 4-1.

Gill finished with three saves in earning the win, while Ratliff posted five saves in the loss. Hopkins held a distinct advantage in shots (18-6) and corner kicks (8-1), while the fouls (19-17) were near even.

Hopkins returns to action this weekend as the Blue Jays travel to Pittsburgh, PA for the Carnegie Mellon Tournament. Hopkins is set to take on host Carnegie Mellon, Friday at 7:30 pm.
