BALTIMORE - Senior forward Matthew Doran (Stormville, NY/John Jay) scored two goals and assisted on another to lead the Johns Hopkins men's soccer team to a 5-0 win over King's College Saturday afternoon at Homewood Field.

After being taken down in the box, Doran scored the opening goal on a penalty shot at the 35-minute mark of the first half. Doug Pollack (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) scored eight minutes later on a feed from Doran, and with just under a minute remaining in the half, Chris Elser (Camden, SC/St. Stephens) blasted a shot from 25 yards out past King's goalkeeper Emmett Donnelly to give Hopkins a 3-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, Matt Weill (Merrick, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) headed home a rebound from a Greg Mangels (Glenside, PA/Cheltenham) shot that had hit the post to make the score 4-0, and Doran closed the scoring by heading home a rebound from a penalty shot by Michael Cordeiro (Easton, MD/St. Andrews).

Gary Kane, Jr. (Lansdale, PA/Lansdale College) and Nicholas Challen (Southborough, MA/Algonquin Regional) combined for the shutout, but did not record a save as Hopkins out-shot the Monarchs, 39-3. The Blue Jays, who are ranked No. 10 in the latest NSCAA poll, have now outscored their opponents 14-1 in three matches this season.

Johns Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, when the Blue Jays host Arcadia at 7 p.m.
