SEWANEE, TN - The Johns Hopkins men's soccer team won its third straight game Friday evening, downing Birmingham-Southern 4-1 at the Kyle Rote, Jr. Invitational. Sophomore Scott Bukoski (Sagamore, MA/Bourne) scored two goals for the second consecutive game as the Blue Jays improve to 3-1-0 on the season.

The Panthers didn't need long to equalize as Sean Head put one home in the 19th minute, making it a 1-1 game. Bukoski gave the Blue Jays a one-goal lead on an unassisted tally in the 41st minute.

In the second half, Hopkins continued the offensive pressure. Sophomore Evan Kleinberg (South Orange, NJ/Columbia) capitalized in the 51st minute scoring his second goal of the season off a header. Bukoski then closed out the scoring in the 58th minute with Naik picking up the assist.

For the Blue Jays, junior Matt Mierley (Weston, FL/St. Thomas Aquinas) made three saves in his first start in the goal this season. For the Panthers, Hal Halbert finished with two saves in the loss. Bukoski, who now has four goals on the season, continues to climb the ranks in the Hopkins record book. He now ranks 17th in program history with 24 career goals. Bukoski is also tied for 17th all-time with 54 career points.
