Box Score

BALTIMORE, MD - Sophomore Scott Bukoski (Sagamore, MA/Bourne) sandwiched a pair of goals around a strike from senior Ethan Mulligan (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) as Johns Hopkins topped visiting St. Mary's 3-1. The Blue Jays improve to 2-1-0 as they wrap up a three-game homestand, while the Seahawks slip to 1-2-0.

St. Mary's struck first in the 21st minute to take the early lead. Kevin Seeger served up a free kick from about 40 yards out that Misha Simon headed into the upper left corner. Bukoski answered for Hopkins in the 33rd minute after a heads-up play from sophomore David Drake (Medford, NJ/Shawnee). With the ball headed towards the Seahawks' endline, Drake beat his defender to the ball and centered it inside the six-yard box. A sliding Bukoski tipped the ball past St. Mary's goalie Paul Spranklin just inside the near post to knot the score at 1-1.

Mulligan gave the Blue Jays the lead in the 70th minute when he blasted a 70-yard free kick just over the outstretched hands of Spranklin. Bukoski added an insurance goal in the 78th minute as he caused a turnover in the Seahawks' box and chipped the ball past Spranklin for his second of the day.

Junior Ravi Gill (Morganville, NJ/Marlboro) finished with six saves in his second consecutive start for Hopkins. For St. Mary's, Spranklin finished with six saves.

Hopkins returns to action on Friday, September 5 as the team travels to Sewanee, TN for the annual Kyle Rote, Jr. Invitational. JHU will face Birmingham-Southern at 5:00 pm CST.
