BALTIMORE, MD - Paul Rabil (Gaithersburg, MD/DeMatha), a senior midfielder on the 2008 Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team, has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District At-Large First Team it was announced recently. The selection is the second straight for Rabil, who extended the team's run of players named to the team to seven years. As a first team selection Rabil will now go on the ballot for Academic All-America honors. Rabil earned Thrid Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors a year ago.

One of the premier players in the nation and currently a finalist for the prestigious Tewaaraton Trophy, Rabil led the team in scoring for the third straight time this season as he totaled a career-high 36 goals and 14 assists for 50 points. He led the Blue Jays to a runner-up finish in the NCAA Tournament as he scored 14 goals and added three assists for 17 points in the four playoff games. He scored a career-high six goals and added an assist in the NCAA Championship game against Syracuse.

A political science major with a 3.49 cumulative grade point average, Rabil completed two internships, including one at the Cordish Company (commercial real estate development), where he maintained the web site for the company's multi-billion dollar Ballpark Village development. He also served as a teaching assistant in two courses and earned a minor in entrepreneurship and management.

Rabil earned First Team USILA All-America honors in each of his final three seasons at Johns Hopkins and was selected as the McLaughlin Award winner in 2007 as the nation's top midfielder. He finishes his career as JHU's career leader in goals (111) and points (178) among midfielders and is Hopkins' career leader in goals (28), assists (23) and points (51) in NCAA Tournament games.

Johns Hopkins posted an 11-6 record this season and advanced to the national championship game for the third time in the last four years and a record 18th time overall.
