April 20, 2007

BALTIMORE, MD -- Johns Hopkins junior midfielder Paul Rabil (Gaithersburg, MD/DeMatha) is one of the final 17 nominees for the 2007 Tewaaraton Trophy, it was recently announced by the Tewaaraton Award Foundation. The 17 nominees, who represent eight schools, will be trimmed to five finalists for the award, which will be presented on May 30.

Rabil currently ranks second on the team in scoring with 12 goals and 10 assists for 22 points. His 10 assists lead the team, while his 12 goals are just two behind the team-leader. He has already set a school single-season record with two game-winning goals in overtime (Princeton / Maryland) and has picked up his scoring pace in recent weeks. After totaling four goals and one assist in Hopkins' first four games of the season he has punched up eight goals and nine assists in the last five games. He has registered three or more points in four of those five games.

One of just four midfielders among the final 17 nominees, Rabil earned First Team All-America honors last season and is one of just two returning First Team All-Americans. He enters this week's game against Navy needing just three points to reach 100 in his career as he counts 60 goals and 37 assists to his credit.

Johns Hopkins is currently 5-4 on the year and ranked seventh in the nation. The Blue Jays host the ninth-ranked Midshipmen at 3 pm on Saturday.
