OVERLAND PARK, KS – Johns Hopkins senior attackman Shack Stanwick has been selected as one of 10 finalists nationwide for the 2018 men’s lacrosse Senior CLASS Award. The award is designated for NCAA Division I seniors who have notable achievements in four areas – community, classroom, character and competition. The complete list of finalists is included below.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their athletic platforms to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Fan balloting counts for 1/3 of the total with the remaining 2/3s determined by NCAA Division I coaches and national media members. Fans can cast their vote here. Fan voting will be open through May 14.

Stanwick is majoring in political science and carries a 3.04 cumulative GPA. He was an Academic All-Big Ten selection as a junior last season and has been actively involved in several of the team-wide community service initiatives. Among the notable activities are trips to the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center to visit kids battling cancer and a long-standing association with the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.

Stanwick is in his fourth season as a starter on attack for the Blue Jays and earned Honorable Mention USILA All-America honors as a sophomore and junior. He was a First Team All-Big Ten selection in 2016 and a second team selection last season and currently has 89 goals and 106 assists for 195 points in his career. He ranks fifth in school history in career assists and 12th in points. In addition, he will carry a school-record 58-game point-scoring streak into this week’s game at 15th-ranked Penn State; the streak is also the third-longest active streak in the nation.

A co-captain this season, Stanwick is the eighth Stanwick sibling to play Division I college lacrosse – all eight served as a team captain of their respective college teams.
