BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins men’s lacrosse team held its spot in one national poll, jumped a spot in another and sophomore attackman Cole Williams was honored by the Big Ten and the USILA today.


Blue Jays Ranked 6th in USILA, Maverik Media Polls

Johns Hopkins held its number six ranking in this week’s Maverik Media Poll and rose one spot from seventh to sixth in the USILA Coaches Poll after topping then 10th-ranked Rutgers, 13-12, on Sunday night.

Williams Named B1G Offensive Player of the Week, Earns Spot on USILA Team of the Week
Cole Williams sparked Johns Hopkins’ 13-12 come-from-behind victory at Rutgers with a two-goal, four-assist effort on Sunday. Today, he was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and landed a spot on the USILA Team of the Week.

Williams’ four assists and six points against the Scarlet Knights were both career highs and he totaled one goal and three of his assists during an 8-4 game-ending run over the final 21 minutes that turned an 8-5 deficit into the 13-12 victory.

Williams leads the team in goals (21), is tied for second in points (29) and ranks fourth in assists (8). His four assists against Rutgers matched his previous season total and he never had more than one assist in a game before his effort against the ‘Knights.

After two straight games on the road, Johns Hopkins (7-2, 1-0 B1G) returns home on Saturday, April 7 as the Blue Jays welcome Ohio State (5-5, 0-1 B1G) to Homewood Field. Faceoff is set for 12 pm with a live national television audience on the ESPNU.
