NEW YORK, NY –Johns Hopkins senior midfielder Joel Tinney is among 50 men’s lacrosse players nationwide who have been named to the 2018 Tewaaraton Award Watch list it was announced on Thursday night.

Tinny, a Second Team USILA All-American and First Team All-Big Ten selection a year ago, has started all three games this season and counts three goals, three assists and six ground balls to his credit. The versatile midfielder sees extensive action on the wing on faceoffs and is a member of the Blue Jay extra-man unit. He scored his 50th career goal in last week’s game against North Carolina and will carry career totals of 50 goals, 22 assists, 77 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers into this week’s game against Princeton.

Players not named to the initial lists have several opportunities to play their way into a spot as the season progresses. Watch list additions, if applicable, will be announced on March 22 and April 5. On April 26, the field will be narrowed to 25 men’s and 25 women’s nominees. Nominees can be players on the watch lists or players not on the watch lists, effectively allowing for a third round of additions.

Five men’s and five women’s finalists will be announced on May 10 and invited to the 18th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony in Washington, D.C., on May 31.
