Blue Jays 11th in USILA Preseason Coaches Poll
BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team is ranked 11th in the 2018 USILA Preseason Coaches Poll, which was released today. The Blue Jays will open the season with a top 15 matchup at Homewood Field as Johns Hopkins will welcome 14th-ranked Towson for the season-opener on Saturday, February 10 (6 pm).
The number 11 ranking from the USILA matches the Blue Jays' preseason ranking from Face-Off Yearbook; Johns Hopkins was also ranked 13th by Lacrosse Magazine in its 2018 preseason poll.
The USILA Coaches Poll features eight teams on the 2018 Johns Hopkins schedule with all eight holding a spot in the top 14. In addition to the season-opener against the 14th-ranked Tigers, the Blue Jays will also face Maryland (1st), Rutgers (7th), Ohio State (8th), North Carolina (9th), Syracuse (10th), Penn State (12th) and Loyola (13th). The Blue Jays open with three consecutive games against teams ranked in the top 14 in Towson, Loyola and North Carolina.
For historical purposes, the Johns Hopkins Athletic Communications office uses the USILA Poll to represent the team's official national ranking at the time of a game.
