Blue Jays Host Midshipmen in Key Late-Season Game

2012: Second Team USILA All-American • Finished fifth on the team in scoring with 16 goals and seven assists • Had one assist in season-opener vs. Towson, scored first goal of the year vs. Delaware and added another assist vs. Siena • Totaled one goal and one assist at Princeton and matched that vs. Manhattan • Notched the 50th point of his career at Princeton • Posted first multi-goal game of the season with two goals vs. UMBC and came back with a two-goal, one-assist effort in 11-7 win over sixth-ranked Syracuse • Scored only goal of the game with 5.6 seconds remaining in the first overtime to lift Hopkins to an 11-10 win at #1 Virginia - JHU's first win over the Cavs in Charlottesville since 1998 • Fired home career-high four goals in 17-6 win over Albany and had one in loss to Maryland • Totaled one goal and two assists in 13-6 win vs. Army and scored twice in 19-9 win over Stony Brook in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

2011: First Team USILA All-American • Only sophomore at any position to earn first team honors and the first sophomore middie at JHU to earn First Team All-America honors since Paul Rabil in 2006 • Finished fourth on the team in scoring with 18 goals and 14 assists • Also went 15-of-31 (.484) on faceoffs, finished fifth on the team in GBs (27) and had 11 multi-point games • Had one assist and four ground balls and won 3-of-6 faceoffs in the win at Towson to open the season • Came back with a career-high three assists, grabbed two ground balls and won 3-of-6 faceoffs in the 18-5 win at Delaware • Punched up his first two goals of the season in the win against Siena • Did not score vs. Princeton, but enjoyed a solid showing at the X as he was 6-of-8 on faceoffs with five ground balls • Totaled two goals and one assist and added three ground balls vs. Manhattan • Posted career-high five points in the win over UMBC with two goals and three assists - Three assists tied career high • Fired home two goals in a 5-4 double overtime loss at top-ranked Syracuse • Earned Big City Classic MVP honors in JHU's 10-9 win over North Carolina as he scored three goals and added one assist • Added two goals in JHU's 11-6 win over Albany • Tallied two assists in JHU's 12-11 overtime win at fourth-ranked Maryland - got the helpers on the first and last goals of a 9-2 JHU run that turned a 7-2 halftime deficit into an 11-9 lead - both goals were scored by senior Chris Boland • Scored twice against Loyola and added one goal and one assist at Army • Assisted on a Rob Guida goal early in the third quarter of the 12-5 win over Hofstra in the first round of the NCAA Tournament - goal sparked an 8-1 game-ending run for JHU • Added one goal and one assist vs. Denver in the NCAA Quarterfinals.

2010: Played in all 15 games and earned his first career start against North Carolina • Counted nine goals and five assists to his credit to finish sixth on the team in goals and points • Second-leading scorer among JHU freshmen • Scored first career goal against Delaware and added single goals in wins against Siena and UMBC • Tallied then career-high two points on one goal and one assist at top-ranked Virginia and added a goal against third-ranked North Carolina • Netted first career hat trick and added an assist in the win over Albany to earn Chris Gardner Player of the Game honors • Made it two straight three-point games with a one-goal, career-high two-assist showing against Maryland • Assisted on a Kyle Wharton goal late in the first quarter at Loyola that gave JHU a 2-1 lead - game was tied twice after that, but JHU never trailed again.

At Yorktown: Two-time US Lacrosse All-American and an Under Armour All-American as a senior • Earned all-section and all-league honors three times • Totaled 58 goals and 13 assists as a senior and 128 goals and 53 assists in his career • Helped lacrosse team to three straight appearances in the state semifinals • Lacrosse coach was Dave Marr, the career leader in assists at Johns Hopkins and a 1996 JHU graduate • Three-time state skiing finalist • Also played soccer.

Personal: John J. Ranagan • The son of John and Laura Ranagan • Father played football and lacrosse at nearby Towson University and helped guide the Tiger football team to a 10-0 record in 1974 ... this remains the only unbeaten football team in school history • Born July 9, 1991 • Psychology major with a minor in entrepreneurship and management.
