Dec. 10, 2007

BALTIMORE, MD - Johns Hopkins freshman place-kicker Alex Lachman (Livingston, NJ/Livingston) has been named to the d3football.com All-South Region Second Team it was announced today. Lachman was one of just two freshmen named to the team, which consisted of a first, second and third team. He was also one of just six freshmen nationwide named to one of d3football.com's All-Region teams (North, East, South, West). The honor is the latest for Lachman, who previously earned First Team All-Centennial Conference honors.

Lachman made an immediate splash this season and was the only freshman in the league to earn All-Centennial honors. He was 23-of-23 on extra points and 11-of-12 on field goals, including 10-of-11 from outside 30 yards and 4-of-5 from outside 40 yards. His 11 field goals are a JHU freshman record and rank as the fifth-highest single-season total in school history. He broke the Centennial Conference season record for field goal percentage (91.7%) and his 56 points are tied for the third-highest season total in school history by a kicker.

Just four games into his career Lachman tied the JHU single-game record with four field goals against Moravian and set a school record with 15 kick-scoring points against the Greyhounds. Lachman's selection continues Hopkins' trend of standout kickers. The Blue Jays have landed the First Team All-Centennial place-kicker six times since 1995 and JHU's place-kicker has earned first or second team honors 11 times since 1994.
