LANCASTER, PA - Johns Hopkins senior cornerback Dan Requena (Fairlawn, NJ/Fairlawn) has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his effort in Saturday's 17-10 loss to Ursinus. Requena is the second straight Johns Hopkins player to earn the award as freshman A.J. Albert was tabbed last week after a 20-17 upset of previously unbeaten Dickinson.

Requena posted three tackles and had two interceptions against the Bears to lead the way defensively for Johns Hopkins. Requena's first interception came late in the third quarter with the Bears deep inside Blue Jay territory. He intercepted the ball at the Hopkins 15 and returned it 19 yards to the Hopkins 34, where the Blue Jays took over and drove for a go-ahead field goal. He added his second interception on the second play of Ursinus' ensuing possession. He is the first Johns Hopkins player to record two interceptions in a game since Chris Chauvin picked off a pair at Franklin & Marshall on October 6, 2006.

Requena ranks eighth on the team with a career-high 31 tackles and has a team-high three interceptions and three pass breakups to his credit this season. He has started 24 of the 27 games he has played in during his career and has career totals of 85 tackles and eight interceptions and was an Honorable Mention All-Centennial selection last season.

Johns Hopkins (2-5) is off this week and will next play at Juniata on Saturday, October 27. The game will be the first between Johns Hopkins and Juniata since 1929.
