LANCASTER, PA -- Johns Hopkins senior Colin Wixted has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in last week's 23-12 win at Dickinson. Wixted is the third Johns Hopkins player to earn Player of the Week honors from the Centennial Conference this season as he joins running back Andrew Kase (offense) and place-kicker Alex Lachman (special teams) as JHU honorees. This is the first time Wixted has earned the honor in his career.

Wixted, who plays strong safety (OLB) in JHU's 4-4-3 defensive alignment, totaled seven tackles, including 1.5 for losses and one sack, one interception, one forced fumble and one pass breakup in the victory at Dickinson. Wixted's interception midway through the fourth quarter killed a Dickinson drive inside the Blue Jay 30-yard line and led to the game-clinching touchdown for the Blue Jays.

A two-time Second Team All-Centennial selection, Wixted is tied for fourth on the team in tackles (32) and leads the team in tackles for losses (6.5). He is tied for the team-lead in interceptions (2), sacks (2.5) and forced fumbles (2) and is JHU's active career leader in tackles (219), tackles for losses (30) and sacks (12).

Johns Hopkins is currently 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the Centennial Conference. The Blue Jays have won five straight games, 10 of their last 12 and 14 of their last 18. JHU's current nine-game Centennial Conference winning streak is the longest in school history.

Johns Hopkins is listed as receiving votes in this week's AFCA Division III Coaches Poll and the d3football.com poll. The Blue Jays will host Ursinus (2-3, 2-1 CC) this Saturday at Homewood Field.
