LANCASTER, PA -- Johns Hopkins sophomore linebacker Hani Annabi (El Paso, TX/Coronado) has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Blue Jays' 36-13 season-opening victory over Randolph-Macon on Saturday. This is the first time in his career that Annabi has earned the award.

Annabi led a Johns Hopkins defense that dominated the line of scrimmage against the Yellow Jackets. He totaled a career-high 10 tackles in the victory, including 1.5 for losses and one sack, and added a forced fumble as well. The Blue Jays held Randolph-Macon to 32 rushing yards on 40 attempts and just 197 yards of total offense. Annabi's sack was one of six on the day for the Blue Jays, who totaled 10 tackles for losses on the day.

Johns Hopkins will carry a 15-game regular season winning streak into this week's game at Susquehanna. The Crusaders opened the 2012 season with a 37-21 victory over the Merchant Marine Academy last Saturday.
