BALTIMORE, MD -- The honors continue to roll in for Johns Hopkins senior tackle Mike Stoffel (Livingston, NJ/Livingston), who has been named a First Team Preseason All-American by Stoffel, who was previously named a Second Team Preseason All-American in Lindy's 2009 College Football Preview Magazine, is the only Johns Hopkins player on the list and one of just two Centennial Conference players on the team.

Stoffel earned First Team All-Centennial Conference, First Team All-ECAC Southwest and Third Team All-Region honors as a junior. He anchored a line that paved the way for a Blue Jay offense that averaged 26.1 points and 378 yards of total offense last season despite starting just two seniors. The line led the way for then junior Andrew Kase to set school records with 1,635 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns, while Hewitt Tomlin threw for a JHU freshman-record 1,847 yards. Players who scored all 34 of JHU's offensive touchdowns last season are due to return this year.

Stoffel also earned Second Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honors and was named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll as well. He previously earned Second Team All-Centennial Conference honors as a sophomore and will carry a streak of 25 consecutive starts into the 2009 season opener.

Stoffel is the latest in a long line of standout offensive linemen at Johns Hopkins. At least one Johns Hopkins offensive lineman has earned All-Centennial honors every year since 1987 and the line has produced a total of 41 All-Centennial selections since the league was formed in 1983. Among the 41 selections are 20 first team nods.

Johns Hopkins will open the 2009 season with arguably the biggest non-conference game in school history. The Blue Jays will travel to Delaware Valley on September 5 for a season-opening game against the Aggies. Delaware Valley is ranked fifth in the preseason by The Sporting News and fourth by Lindy's. Johns Hopkins, which is ranked 18th by the Sporting News and 24th by Lindy's, posted an 8-3 record and advanced to the ECAC Southeast Championship game last season. Delaware Valley also posted an 8-3 record last season with a share of the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship and the ECAC South Atlantic Championship to its credit.
