In his second season as a member of Jim Margraff's staff is David Hanna, who returns to coach the team's wide receivers.
Hanna's top pupil in his first season at Homewood was current senior Anthony Triplin, who was named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league with 77 receptions. Hanna will have the luxury this season of working with three of the team's top four pass-catchers from last season.
A 1999 graduate of Kalamzoo College, Hanna was a two-time All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association selection as he garnered honorable mention honors as a junior before moving up to the second team as a senior. He tied for the team lead with three interceptions as a senior, when he also finished second on the team with 59 tackles. A four-year letterwinner, he also averaged 20.8 yards per kickoff return as a senior.
Hanna worked in the office of Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley in 2003 and 2004 and was responsible for coordinating the city's nationally-recognized "Believe in Our Schools" campaign. In addition, he was also responsible for coordinating city agency funding solicitations and helped design city-wide strategies to expand opportunities for children and families in addition to education and governance.
Hanna earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at Kalamazoo and has studied child clinical psychology at the University of Albany. He is expected to complete work on his master's degree later this year.
