The Johns Hopkins men's fencing team won three of its four matches Sunday at Tufts University. The Blue Jays topped New Hampshire, 26-1 before falling to Boston College, 15-12, but rebounded to defeat Massachusetts, 16-11 and Tufts, 18-9.
Freshman Jason Park (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) went 11-1 to lead the Blue Jays in the sabre, while senior Yong Kwon (Bronx, NY/Fordham Prep) went 10-1. Sophomore Fred Lee (Garland, TX/North Garland) won three of 11 duals, while sophomore Bin Luo (Commack, NY/Commack) finished 1-1.
Sophomore Brian Bishe' (Glen Ridge, NJ/Montclair Kimberley Academy) had another excellent day, winning eight of nine duals in the foil. Senior Daniel Frank (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) went 5-4 in the foil, while junior Emanuel Strauss (New York, NY/U.N. International School) finished 4-5.
Sophomore John Majewski (Wrentham, MA/King Philip Regional) led Hopkins in the epee by going 7-4, while junior Matt Bouloubasis (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) finished the day 4-2. Senior Dave Kotlyar (Holland, PA/Council Rock) went 3-4 in the epee, sophomore Alex Sinofsky (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) was 2-2, and sophomore Anson Tang (Plano, TX/Illinois Math and Science Academy) finished 2-3.
The Blue Jays are now off until January 11-12, when Hopkins competes at the Northwestern Duals in Evanston, IL.
