Hopkins Men's Fencing Opens Season With Three Wins Nov. 11, 2002 Baltimore, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's fencing team opened the 2002-03 season with three wins Sunday, defeating St. John's (MD), 23-4, Virginia Tech, 22-5, and Yeshiva, 22-5, in the White Athletic Center. Freshman Jason Park (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) went 7-0 in the sabre, while senior Yong Kwon (Bronx, NY/Fordham Prep) went 6-1 and sophomore Fred Lee (Garland, TX/North Garland) finished 4-2. Sophomore Brian Bishe' (Glen Ridge, NJ/Montclair Kimberley Academy) and senior Daniel Frank (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) each went 6-0 to lead the Blue Jays in the foil. Sophomore Marcos Kuroki (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Escale Maria Imaculada) finished the day 7-2 and junior Emanuel Strauss (New York, NY/U.N. International School) went 5-1, as Hopkins won 24 of its 27 duals in the foil. Sophomore Anson Tang (Plano, TX/Illinois Math and Science Academy) led Hopkins by going 7-0 in the epee, while senior Dave Kotlyar (Holland, PA/Council Rock) and junior Matt Bouloubasis (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) each went 6-0. Sophomore Alex Sinofsky (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) won four of six duals on the day. Hopkins will face Boston College, Tufts, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire this Sunday in Medford, MA, on the campus of Tufts University.
