Baltimore, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's fencing team opened its 2001-02 season by competing in the Temple Open this weekend.

In the foil division, Bryan Bishe (Glen Ridge, NJ/Montclair Kimberly Academy) finished in 14th place, Dan Rosenthal (Chevy Chase, MD/Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School) was 20th, Dan Frank (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) finished 28th, and Emanuel Strauss (New York, NY/U.N. International School) placed 46th.

Ryan Schwerzmann (Watertown, NY/Watertown) led the Blue Jays in the sabre division, finishing in 14th place. Sampreet Niyogi (Voorhees, NJ/The Lawrenceville School) finished 32nd and James Chen (Boston, MA/Lawrenceville School) was 38th.

Hopkins will host Yeshiva, Virginia Tech, and St. John's (MD) on Sunday starting at 12 noon.
