Easton, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's fencing team won all three of its duals on Saturday on the campus of Lafayette College. The Blue Jays defeated Lafayette, 24-3, Cornell, 20-7, and Haverford, 18-9, to improve to 20-8 this season.

Junior Matt Bouloubasis (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) went 8-0 to lead the JHU epee team, which won 24 of 27 duals on the day. Senior Dave Kotlyar (Holland, PA/Council Rock) was also perfect on Saturday, as he compiled a 5-0 record. Sophomore John Majewski (Wrentham, MA/King Philip Regional) finished 6-1 in the epee, while Anson Tang (Plano, TX/Illinois Math and Science Academy) went 5-2.

Freshman Jason Park (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) went 9-0 to pace Hopkins in the sabre, while senior Yong Kwon (Bronx, NY/Fordham Prep) finished 8-1. Sophomore Bin Luo (Commack, NY/Commack) went 3-0 and sophomore Fred Lee (Garland, TX/North Garland) was 1-5 in the sabre.
 

 

Sophomore Brian Bishe' (Glen Ridge, NJ/Montclair Kimberley Academy) won all eight of his duals in the foil, while senior Daniel Frank (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) went 5-3. Sophomore Marcos Kuroki (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Escala Maria Imaculada) finished 2-2 and junior Emanuel Strauss (New York, NY/U.N. International School) went 2-5.

The Blue Jays received votes in the USFCA Poll released on February 13. Hopkins is ranked No. 21 overall and was one of three Division III schools to receive votes. Notre Dame was selected to the top spot, followed by Penn State, St. John's, Ohio State, Pennsylvania, Princeton, Columbia, Harvard, Air Force, and Stanford.

Hopkins returns to action Sunday when the Blue Jays travel to Hoboken, NJ, to take on Steven's Tech, Army, and Hunter.
