DURHAM, NC - Despite strong performances from Brian Bishe' (Glen Ridge, NJ/Montclair Kimberley Academy) and Matt Bouloubasis (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park), the Johns Hopkins men's fencing team dropped four duals Friday at Duke University.

The Blue Jays fell to M.I.T., 16-11, to open the day, and dropped a tough 14-13 to Brandeis in its next dual. Hopkins then lost to the host Blue Devils, 19-8, and concluded its day with a 19-8 defeat to North Carolina.

Bouloubasis won 11 of 12 duals in the epee, while Bishe' went 9-3 in the foil. Daniel Frank (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) finished 5-7 in the foil.

Sampreet Niyogi (Voorhees, NJ/The Lawrenceville School), Ryan Schwerzmann (Watertown, NY/Watertown), James Chen (Boston, MA/Lawrenceville School), Dave Kotlyar (Holland, PA/Council Rock), and John Majewski (Wrenthan, MA/King Philip Regional) each picked up three wins on the day.

The Blue Jays return home Saturday to host Virginia, William & Mary, North Carolina, and Drew.
