Durham, NC - The Johns Hopkins men's fencing team dropped all five of its dual meets on Friday at the Duke Invitational. The Blue Jays fell to Stanford, 24-3, Duke, 20-7, Air Force, 19-8, North Carolina, 16-11, and Notre Dame, 25-2.

Junior Matt Bouloubasis (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) went 7-8 to lead Hopkins in the epee, while sophomore John Majewski (Wrentham, MA/King Philip Regional) finished 3-12 and sophomore Anson Tang (Plano, TX/Illinois Math and Science Academy) went 2-5. Additionally, senior Dave Kotlyar (Holland, PA/Council Rock) lost all seven of his duals and sophomore Fred Lee (Garland, TX/North Garland) lost his only dual in the epee.
 

 

Sophomore Brian Bishe' (Glen Ridge, NJ/Montclair Kimberley Academy) led the Blue Jays in the foil by going 7-8, while junior Emanuel Strauss (New York, NY/U.N. International School) finished 2-13 and senior Daniel Frank (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) went 1-14.

In the sabre, freshman Jason Park (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) and senior Yong Kwon (Bronx, NY/Fordham Prep) each finished 4-11, while Lee went 1-14.

Notre Dame won the invitational with 106 wins, followed by Stanford (83), Air Force (74), Duke (64), North Carolina (47), and Hopkins (31).

The Blue Jays return to action on Saturday when Hopkins travels to Easton, PA, to take on Lafayette, St. John's (MD), and Cornell. The meet begins at 11 a.m.
