PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's fencing team opened up the season with a strong showing at the Temple Open last weekend. Sophomore David Ferguson (New York, NY/Stuyvesant) finished as the runner-up in the Foil on Sunday.

The Blue Jays did well in the Foil as sophomore John Dorfman (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon) finished in 12th place out of 82. Trevor Van Euween had a strong showing for Hopkins, placing 12th in the Sabre. Senior Andrew Carney (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) took 41st out of 82 competitors. The lone competitor for Hopkins in the Epee, sophomore Dan Zielinski (Bernardville, NJ/¬¬Bernardville) finished 24th out of 74.

Next up for Hopkins is the Penn State Open, Sunday, November 5.
