WEST POINT, NY - The Johns Hopkins men's fencing team captured its 25th overall MACFA title on Sunday beating North Carolina by a single bout. The Blue Jays also captured their 22nd Epee Title, while finishing runner-up in the Foil and the Sabre. Hopkins has more overall titles and more Epee titles than any other team in MACFA history. The championships started late, therefore the individual portion of the championships was canceled.

Leading the way in the Epee, were freshman Nick Krywopusk (Richboro, PA/Princeton Day School (NJ)), sophomore Harry Oppenheim (Weston, FL/University School of NSU) and sophomore James Pearse (Concord, MA/Concord Carlisle). Krywopusk, fencing in the A strip, went undefeated with a 14-0 record and is now 67-30 on the season. Oppenheim went 11-3 in the B strip to improve to 45-24. In the C strip, Pearse went 10-4 and is now 40-12 overall.

In the Foil, junior Ben Dorfman (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon) went 9-4 in the A strip to improve his record to 71-32. Junior David Ferguson (New York, NY/Stuyvesant) won 12 of his 14 bouts in the B strip and is now 69-31 overall. And in the C strip, junior Jimmy Einsiedler (Falmouth, ME/Waynflete School) won 13 of his 14 bouts and is now 44-13 overall.

Fencing in the Sabre were freshman Max Wieder (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) and seniors Aaron Fernandes (Short Hills, NJ/Millburn) and Jacob Sand (Laverock, PA/Germantown Friends). Wieder, fencing in the A strip, went 12-1 and is 90-30 on the season. Fernandes won 11 of his 13 bouts in the B strip and is now 78-27. In the C strip, Sand went 10-2 and improved his record to 32-32.
