Men's Crew Takes Second At Atlantic Collegiate Sprints

YORK, PA - The Johns Hopkins University men's and women's crew teams competed at the Atlantic Collegiate League Sprints in York, PA this past weekend. The men's team finished second with 18 points while the women finished fourth with 16 points. There was a moderate tailwind throughout the day on the 2000 meter course. Ithaca took first place on the men's side with 20 points and on the women's side with 26 points.
For the men, they started with a third place finish in the Varisty 8+ with a time of 6:17.89. The Novice 8+ followed that up with a second place finish with a time of 6:46.20. The Men's Novice 4+ took third in 7:18.20.
The day was highlighted by four first place finishes on the women's side. In the Women's Pair, sophomore Michelle Zacharias (Cleveland, OH/Valley Forge) and junior Becca Kramer (Storrs, CT/E.O. Smith) took first with a time of 8:28.40. The Women's Novice 4+ followed that with a first place finish with a time of 8:17.93. The Blue Jays also finished first in the Varsity 4+ with a time of 7:25.80. Senior Payal Ghosh (Woodbury, MN/Woodbury) wrapped up the day with a win in the Women's Single in 9:14.76.
Next up for the men's and women's crew teams is the Mid Atlantic Crew Championships in Lorton, VA on Sunday, May 7.
