CAMDEN, NJ - The Johns Hopkins men's crew team competed at the Knecht Cup in Camden, NJ last Saturday. Due to the weather forecast for Sunday, the schedule was condensed to run the entire regatta on Saturday.
Bobby Mattina (Wilmington, DE/Tower Hill) and Cameron Ward (Bremerton, VA/Olympic) raced in the Varsity Pair and finished third in their heat with a time of 8:50.5. The Men's Novice Four finished third in their heat with a time of 8:01.9. Crewing the boat were Alexander Baish (Ijamsville, MD/Georgetown Prep), Joshua Crist (Akron, OH/Nordonia), Daniel Ingram (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood), Dante Ross and Danielle Fair (Doylestown, PA/Hun School of Princeton).
Hopkins placed fourth in the second heat of the Varsity Eight with a time of 6:44.1. The Blue Jays then placed sixth in the petite final with a time of 6:36.5. In the boat for Hopkins were Pete Ranieri (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial), Lukasz Bugaj (Kalamazoo, MI/Portage Northern), Taylor Reese (Lewisberry, PA/Red Land), Teddy Drivas (New York, NY/Stuyvesant), Chris Viemeister (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook), Wes Fredericks (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan), Chris Vaglia (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon), Josiah Drewien (Hailey, ID/The Community School) and Rachel Raskob (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac).
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, April 21 at the Mother Son Regatta in Chestertown, MD.
