LANCASTER, PA - Johns Hopkins junior Matt Griffin (Glen Mills, PA/Pencrest) earned first team honors while juniors Danny Nawrocki (Syosset, NY/Chaminade) and T.J. Valerio (Blue Bell, PA/St. Joseph's Prep) were pegged as second team selections on the All-Centennial Conference men's basketball team, announced by the league on Wednesday.

Griffin earned his first career conference postseason honor by becoming the eighth Johns Hopkins player to earn first team All-Centennial honors. This season, Griffin is averaging 15.2 points per game and 5.4 rebounds a contest. Griffin is shooting 61.6 percent from the field, tops in the Centennial Conference and 25th in NCAA Division III.

The conference also named Griffin to the 2005-06 Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, which recognizes student athletes with a grade point average of 3.4 or better. Griffin maintains a 3.44 cumulative GPA while double majoring in psychology and philosophy.

For the second time in his career, Nawrocki got an all-conference nod with his second team spot. In 2003-04, Nawrocki was named to the league's honorable mention team. Nawrocki leads the Blue Jays with 15.6 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while hitting on 57.5 percent of his field goal attempts.

Valerio took all-conference honors for the first time in his career, making his way onto the second team with 12.8 points per contest and 42.5 percent accuracy from beyond the arch, good for third in the league. Valerio's shooting has helped Hopkins achieve the league's best field goal (49.9%) and three point field goal percentage (37.8%).

Senior point guard Mike McGarvey of Ursinus was named Centennial Conference Player of the Year for the second straight season while Franklin & Marshall senior forward Brandon Smith earned first team all-conference accolades for the second time.
