Gardner Named Centennial Conference Player of the Week

LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins junior Michael Gardner has been named the Centennial Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the week for his performance in a 2-0 week for the Blue Jays. Hopkins earned a pair of wins over top-20 teams, both in double overtime, to improve to 19-4 and 13-3 in the conference.

Gardner averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in Hopkins’ wins over 20th-ranked Franklin & Marshall (89-86) and 11th-ranked Swarthmore (93-91). He scored 17 points and handed out three assists in the triumph over Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday night. Gardner followed that with a game-high 18 points, including the game-winning three with 6.7 seconds left, to go with six rebounds and two assists in the win over the Garnet.

Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, February 14 at Washington College with tip-off set for 6:00 pm.
