Maurice Williams is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Johns Hopkins men's basketball team.

Willliams comes to Homewood from nearby Stevenson, where he spent last season as an assistant coach for the Mustangs. He coached the post players as well as serving as the recruiting coordinator and community outreach coordinator. Williams spent the 2015-16 season as an assistant at his alma mater, Frostburg State, where he was in charge of player development as well as recruiting. He also had coaching stints at Salisbury and Eastern.

Williams earned First Team All-CAC honors in 2012 after leading the league in free throw percentage (.851) and offensive rebounds (72) and ranking second in points (16.7). He graduated from Frostburg State with a degree in Heath and Physical Education and later earned a Master in Recreation and Sports Science from Ohio. A native of Columbus Ohio, Williams is married to the former Davia Procida, a 2010 graduate of Frostburg State and member of the women's lacrosse team.
