Eight team members helped to pack and ship the boxes.
Sept. 28, 2017

BALTIMORE, MD – Bob Babb, head coach of the Johns Hopkins baseball team, along with his wife, Gilly, and eight members of the team successfully packed and shipped 80 boxes of clothing to Houston, TX to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey, which ravaged the area earlier in September.

Shortly after the hurricane hit Babb sent out a request to the Hopkins Athletic Department asking for clothing donations that he would ship to Houston. The idea came to Babb from former player Cameron Mineo, who graduated last season and is from the Houston area. Mineo made a team-high 16 appearances out of the bullpen last season and led the Blue Jays with a 7-0 record. He also set the single-season JHU record with a 1.01 ERA.

Once the clothes were collected and packaged they were shipped to Mineo’s mother, Kim, in Houston; she is delivering the clothes to several different organizations that are providing relief and support to individuals and families in the affected areas.
