Johns Hopkins senior pitcher Jeremy Brown (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) and sophomore outfielder Paul Winterling (Glenelg, MD/McDonogh) were named to the ECAC Division III Southern Baseball First Team, the conference announced Monday. Sophomore second baseman Mike Spiciarich (Syosset, NY/Chaminade) was named to the second team, while senior designated hitter Jay Cieri (Pine Brook, NJ/Montville) earned honorable mention honors.
Brown, who was named to the All-Centennial Conference First Team and was selected as the league's Pitcher of the Year, tied for the team lead with a career-high eight wins and posted a 3.27 ERA in 66.0 innings pitched this season. A first team all-region selection, Brown also led the team with 10 starts, five complete games, and 77 strikeouts, while limiting opponents to a .213 batting average. Brown, who pitched a no-hitter against Lakeland in his first start of the year, recorded double figure strikeouts in three games and sports a 15-5 career record.

Winterling, who was also named to the all-conference first team and earned Player of the Year honors, had an exceptional campaign in his second year as a Blue Jay. He was also a first team all-region selection and was named to the Mid-Atlantic Regional All-Tournament Team after batting .353 with four runs scored, two home runs, and six RBIs in four NCAA Tournament games. For the season, Winterling batted .397 with a team-high 50 hits in 126 at-bats and led Hopkins with 46 runs scored, 13 doubles, 12 home runs, 46 RBIs, 12 stolen bases, and an .817 slugging percentage.
Spiciarich, who earned All-Centennial Conference First Team and second team all-region honors, batted .393 with 42 hits in 107 at-bats this season. He ranked second on the Blue Jays with 37 runs scored and 12 doubles, and tied for the team lead with three triples. Additionally, Spiciarich recorded four home runs, 20 RBIs and eight stolen bases, while placing third on the team with a .673 slugging percentage.
Cieri, who also was named to the all-conference first team and was a third team all-region selection, batted .349 with 37 hits in 106 at-bats from the leadoff spot. He led the Blue Jays with 30 walks and a .504 on-base percentage, while ranking third with 35 runs scored and 10 stolen bases. Cieri also added five home runs, 20 RBIs, and four doubles on the season.
Hopkins finished the season 34-7 and advanced to the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament.
