June 1, 2004

Baltimore, MD - Johns Hopkins senior righthander Jeremy Brown (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) was named to the 2004 NCAA Division III Baseball All-America Third Team on Tuesday.

Brown, who this year was named the Centennial Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season and also earned ABCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team honors, led Hopkins with nine wins, a 1.55 earned run average, 81.1 innings pitched, 93 strikeouts and a 1.72 opponents' batting average. He allowed one earned run in seven-inning complete game wins over Ursinus on March 27 and Franklin & Marshall on April 10, and gave up one earned run in consecutive nine-inning complete game victories over McDaniel on April 15 and Catholic on April 21.

In the NCAA Regional Brown threw a complete game shutout against Juniata, just the second shutout by Hopkins in NCAA history, and was named to the all-regional team. He finished his career second at Hopkins with 247 strikeouts and tied for seventh with 24 career wins, while his .828 career winning percentage is the sixth highest in JHU history.

Brown's selection marks the 14th time a Hopkins player has earned All-America honors. He is the 12th Blue Jay to be named to the All-America team, as Andy Bernstein (1989-90) and Yani Rosenberg (2001-02) were each two-time selections.
