BALTIMORE, MD - Three members of the Johns Hopkins baseball team were named to the D3baseball.com All-America teams on Tuesday night. Senior center fielder Rob Pietroforte (Brooklyn, NY/Berkeley Carroll) and sophomore right fielder Brian Youchak (Pittsburgh, PA/Vincentian Academy) each earned a spot on the first team. Senior third baseman Todd Emr (Westwood, NJ/Saddle River Day) earned honorable mention honors.

Pietroforte earns All-America honors for the first time in his career. He was a Second Team ABCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region selection and a First Team All-Centennial selection earlier this season. Pietroforte was also selected to the NCAA South Regional All-Tournament team. Pietroforte is hitting .483 in 42 games for the Blue Jays this season. He leads the team in runs scored with 63 and is tied for the team lead in doubles (20) and is second on the team in home runs (6). Against Randolph-Macon on May 15 he set the JHU career triples record with his 14th career three-bagger. Pietroforte became the second player in school history to reach 200 hits for his career with a triple against Salisbury in the NCAA South Regional title game. He had a 26-game hit streak earlier this season and has stolen 24 bases in 27 attempts.

Youchak earns All-America honors for the first time in his career after making a strong comeback from an injury that cost him all of last year. He was a First Team ABCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region selection, a Second Team All-Centennial selection and a member of the NCAA South Regional All-Tournament team. Youchak is hitting .500 in 39 games played for the Blue Jays and is second on the team in runs scored (61) and hits (78). Youchak leads the team in home runs (9) while being tied for the team lead in doubles (20). He has hit in 26-straight contests and is second on the team in stolen bases with 21.
 

 

Emr earns All-America honors for the first time in his career after making a stellar comeback from an injury that cost him all but five games in 2007. He was a First Team ABCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region selection and a First Team All-Centennial selection earlier this season. Emr was also a member of the NCAA South Regional All-Tournament team. He is hitting .476 in 43 games and is leading the team in hits (79) and RBIs (64). Emr leading the team in multi-hit and multi-RBI games and recently had a 21-game hit streak. Emr is just two hits away from tying the JHU single-season hits mark (81) and needs nine RBIs to tie the single-season mark (73). He is 11-of-12 on stolen base attempts this season.

The Blue Jays will make their second appearance in program history at the College World Series starting on Friday. Hopkins is set to face Adrian at 1:15 p.m. CT in Appleton, WI. The Blue Jays last appeared in the College World Series in 1989.
