Heading to the Big Show: Hopkins is making just the second appearance in program history in the College World Series. The Blue Jays won the NCAA South Regional to advance, they also won the South Regional in 1989, the last time JHU went to the College World Series.

The Blue Jays Vs. The Field: Hopkins has faced three of the other seven teams in the College World Series previously. Hopkins faced Cortland State earlier this season in Arizona, falling 10-8. The Blue Jays are 1-5 all-time against Kean including a loss in last year's NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Final. Hopkins has also faced Wis-Whitewater twice, in 2006 and in the College World Series in 1989. Hopkins has never faced Adrian, Chapman, Linfield or Trinity.

800 and Counting: With the 12-1 victory over Swarthmore on March 29, head coach Bob Babb recorded the 800th victory of his coaching career. He became the 12th coach in Division III history to reach the mark. He enters the NCAA Division III College World Series with a record of 825-286-10 in his 29th season on the Blue Jay bench.

Brains and Braun: The Blue Jays had three players named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District First Team. Seniors Rob Pietroforte, Jonas Fester and Ryan Kealy all advance to the national ballot after being first team selections. Pietroforte and Fester were first team all-district selections last year with Pietroforte earning Academic All-America status.

Championship Times Two: The Blue Jays are not the only Hopkins team competing for a national championship this weekend. The Hopkins men's lacrosse team is in Boston participating in the Division I Final Four starting Saturday.

King of the K's: Hopkins has 330 strikeouts this season, breaking the JHU and Centennial Conference single-season strikeouts record of 316. The Blue Jays have seven pitchers with at least 20 strikeouts on the season led by senior Joe Zaccaria's 57. Senior Ryan Kuhlman has racked up 42 strikeouts while junior Chez Angeloni has 39 K's to his credit.

30 is the Magic Number: The Blue Jays have recorded 30+ wins in seven of the last eight seasons. Hopkins has also won 30+ games in 13 seasons under head coach Bob Babb. When the Blue Jays have reached the 30-win plateau they have won eight Centennial Conference titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament 12 times.

Scoring Early and Often: Hopkins has found success this year when it scores early and often. On the season, the Blue Jays have outscored their opponents 506-223, including 185-53 in the first three innings. Hopkins is 27-3 when it scores in the first inning and 28-3 when it scores first in the contest.

Single-Season Marks Come Down: The Blue Jays' high flying offense has seen several single-season marks either come down or are in danger of falling. Senior Todd Emr is just two hits away from tying the single-season hits mark (81). Emr tied the single-season sacrifices mark at nine earlier this year. Senior Rob Pietroforte is two runs away from tying the single-season runs scored record (65). The Blue Jays as a team have already broken the single-season record for doubles (141), hits (634) and runs scored (506).

Ranking in the Polls: Hopkins is currently ranked sixth in the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Poll and has been no lower then 21st in that poll this season. The Blue Jays are currently fifth in the NCBWA/D3Baseball.com poll and have been no lower then 10th in that poll.

I'm Honored: Six Blue Jays were named to the All-Centennial Baseball Team released at the end of April. Seniors Tony Margve, Rob Pietroforte, Todd Emr and junior Ryan Biner were all named First Team All-Centennial while Brian Youchak earned Second Team All-Centennial honors. Senior Joe Zaccaria rounded out the group as he earned All-Centennial Honorable Mention honors.

60 Squared: The Blue Jays enter the College World Series with two players who have scored 60+ runs in a season. Senior Rob Pietroforte has scored 63 runs while sophomore Brian Youchak has crossed the plate 61 times. The Blue Jays have only had two other players score 60+ runs in a season and never in the same year. The school single-season record is 65 which was set in 1998 by John Christ.

With Ducks on the Pond: Hopkins continues to hit the ball well with runners on base and in scoring position. The Blue Jays are hitting .420 this season with runners on base, .417 with runners in scoring position and .736 with a runner on third and less then two outs. Sophomore Brian Youchak is the Blue Jays' best hitter in these situations as he is hitting .567 with runners on, .564 with runners in scoring position and .889 with a runner on third and less then two outs.

20+=17: When Hopkins defeated Gettysburg on April 11, the Blue Jays recorded their 20th win of the season. It marked the 17th straight season under head coach Bob Babb, the Blue Jays had recorded 20+ victories.

Double Your Pleasure: Of Hopkins' 634 hits so far this season, 141 have been doubles. The Blue Jays have broken the school's single-season record for doubles and have seven players with 10 or more doubles this season. That group is led by senior Rob Pietroforte and sophomore Brian Youchak, who have 20 doubles apiece.

Stranding Runners: The Blue Jay bullpen has done a solid job of stranding inherited runners this season. Only 25 of 68 inherited runners have made it across the plate against the bullpen. That group is led by sophomore Matt Wiegand, junior Pete Smith and sophomore Marco Simmons. Wiegand has stranded 10 of the 12 runners he has inherited while Smith has left seven of his 11 on base. Simmons has only allowed three of the eight runners he has inherited to score.
