Eliopoulos and Lynch Earn D3Baseball All-Region Honors
May 18, 2012 Complete Mid-Atlantic All-Region Teams BALTIMORE, MD – Senior right-hander Alex Eliopoulos and junior Jeff Lynch represent the Johns Hopkins baseball team on the inaugural D3baseball.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region teams, each earning second team honors as announced Friday morning. Lynch was named the All-Mid-Atlantic second team first baseman after finishing the season hitting .346 for the Blue Jays with a team-high 45 RBIs and 17 doubles as the club’s primary clean up hitter. Lynch was tied for the top spot in the Centennial Conference and team with seven home runs this season for a team-leading 25 extra base hits. The first baseman collected 15 multi-hit games and has a nine-game hitting streak that he will carry into the 2013 season. Lynch was a perfect 7-for-7 stealing bases this year. Defensively, Lynch was second on the team in fielding 30 double plays while making a team-high 277 put outs. Eliopoulos was named one of the three starting pitchers to the All-Mid-Atlantic second team after finishing the 2012 campaign with a league and team best record of 8-1 and a 1.42 earned run average over 82.2 innings of work. The right-hander compiled a team-high 82 strikeouts on the season to push his career total to 224, good for fourth on the JHU’s all-time strikeout list. Eliopoulos allowed just eight extra base hits this season while holding opponents to a .234 batting average. He pitched two complete games for the Blue Jays this season to bring his career total to seven while posting double-digit strikeout performances twice. Earlier this month, both Lynch and Eliopoulos earned a spot on the All-Centennial Conference first team while Eliopoulos was named the CC Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season.
