Top-ranked Johns Hopkins earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division III Baseball Mid-Atlantic Regional, the NCAA Committee announced Sunday.
The Blue Jays, who are 37-2 this season, will face sixth-seeded Juniata (24-15) Thursday at 11 a.m. Second-seeded Rowan (36-6) takes on fifth-seeded Arcadia (25-14) at 3 p.m., while third-seeded DeSales (26-12) faces fourth-seeded St. Joseph's (Long Island) (26-16) at 7 p.m. All games will take place at Bear Stadium in Boyertown, PA.
Hopkins, which has set the school-record for wins in a season, earned an automatic bid by winning the Centennial Conference Tournament, while Juniata won the Commonwealth Conference Tournament. Rowan claimed the New Jersey Athletic Conference title, DeSales won the Freedom Conference, Arcadia took the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, and St. Joseph's (Long Island) won the Skyline Conference.
The Blue Jays will be making their 13th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their 12th under head coach Bob Babb. Hopkins has now advanced to the NCAA Tournament in six of the past eight years, including each of the last four seasons. The Blue Jays are 16-25 all-time in tournament play, and finished in third place at the 1989 College World Series.
