BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins baseball team earned the top seed in the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Baseball Tournament beginning on Thursday, May 16th in Boyertown, PA. The Blue Jays (34-7), who earned an automatic bid by winning the Centennial Conference Tournament, will open play against No. 6 seed College of New Jersey (30-12) of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.

Kean University (31-9), winner of the NJAC, received the No. 2 seed and will face No. 5 seed Alvernia College (33-8) of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference at 3:00 p.m. on the opening day. Host DeSales University, winner of the Middle Atlantic Corporation, is the No. 3 seed with a 30-8 record, while Worcester State College (33-7), of the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference, rounds out the field as the No. 4 seed.

The Blue Jays are making their 11th appearance in the NCAA Tournament overall and their 10th trip under head coach Bob Babb. Hopkins has now qualified for the NCAA Tournament in four of the past six years. The Blue Jays sport an overall record of 13-21 in ten previous trips to the NCAA Tournament, including a third-place finish in 1989.

This season, JHU reached the 30-victory mark for the eighth time in school history and is just two wins shy of the school-record of 36 set by the 1998 squad. The Blue Jays have also won at least 25 games for 11 consecutive years and boast an overall record of 374-142-1 (.) since the start of the 1990 season.

Opening Day Schedule; Thursday, May 16:
Game 1 - #1 Johns Hopkins University (34-7) vs. #6 College of New Jersey (30-12), 11:00 a.m.
Game 2 - #2 Kean University (31-9) vs. #5 Alvernia College (33-8), 3:00 p.m.
Game 3 - #3 DeSales University (30-8) vs. #4 Worcester State College (33-7), 7:00 p.m.
