BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins baseball team earned the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Baseball Tournament beginning on Thursday, May 16th in Boyertown, PA. The Blue Jays (32-5), who earned an automatic bid by winning the Centennial Conference Tournament, will open play against No. 5 seed Alvernia College (27-9) of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference.

Rowan University (29-8), winner of the New Jersey Athletic Conference, received the top seed and will face No. 6 seed Otterbein College (22-22) of the Ohio Athletic Conference in the first game on Thursday. Host DeSales University, winner of the Freedom Conference of the Middle Atlantic Corporation, is the No. 3 seed with a 26-11 record, while Lakeland College (26-14), of the Lake Michigan Conference, rounds out the field as the No. 4 seed.

The Blue Jays are making their 12th appearance in the NCAA Tournament overall and their 11th trip under head coach Bob Babb. Hopkins has now qualified for the NCAA Tournament in five of the past seven years. The Blue Jays sport an overall record of 14-23 in 11 previous trips to the NCAA Tournament, including a third-place finish in 1989.

This season, JHU reached the 30-victory mark for the ninth time in school history and is just four wins shy of the school-record of 36 set by the 1998 squad. The Blue Jays have also won at least 25 games for 12 consecutive years and boast an overall record of 407-149-1 (.731) since the start of the 1990 season.

Probable Opening Day Schedule; Thursday, May 15:
Game 1 - #1 Rowan University (29-8) vs. #6 Otterbein College (22-22), 11:00 a.m.
Game 2 - #2 Johns Hopkins (32-5) vs. #5 Alvernia College (27-9), 3:00 p.m.
Game 3 - #3 DeSales University (26-11) vs. #4 Lakeland College (26-14), 7:00 p.m.
