BALTIMORE - Johns Hopkins senior second baseman Corey Gleason and sophomore designated hitter Rob Pietroforte were named District II Academic All-District selections by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.

Gleason, the recipient of a first team nod, is hitting .358 in 34 games for the Blue Jays with three homers and 32 RBI. His 15 doubles this season are tops in the conference and brings his career total to 40, sixth all-time at Hopkins. Gleason was a First Team All-Centennial Conference selection.

The Binghamton, N.Y. native carries a 3.45 grade-point average and will graduate later this month with a degree in political science.

Pietroforte, a second team pick, is in his first season as the everyday designated hitter for the Blue Jays, hitting a team-best (second, Centennial Conferencee) .424 through 36 games with five homers and 39 RBI. His 39 driven in are also a team-high and second in the league. Pietroforte was named first team all-conference.

A Brooklyn, N.Y. native, Pietroforte has a 3.66 GPA while majoring in economics.
