Eagleson Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

BALTIMORE, MD – Senior Sam Eagleson represents the Johns Hopkins baseball team on the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District team, as announced Thursday afternoon. Eagleson is the first all-district selection for the Blue Jays since 2010. Eagleson is one of the top two-sport athletes in recent memory at Johns Hopkins as he is also a key member of the Blue Jay football team. The versatile athlete is a three-time All-Centennial Conference honoree for football and was named the 2010 Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Year. As a member of the JHU football team, Eagleson is a two-time all-district selection after receiving the honors for the second time in his career this past season. On the baseball diamond this season, Eagleson is 4-4 and has a 7.4 ERA. The right-hander is second on the team in strikeouts with 43 to push his career total to 166, giving him sole possession of 10th on the JHU career strikeout list. He has one complete game to his credit this season, a two-hitter over Washington College in which he had a season-high eight punch outs. Eagleson has a career record of 22-5 for the Blue Jays and was a First Team All-American in 2010. On the football field, Eagleson ranks fourth in school history with 14 career interceptions, including a team-high three this season. Eagleson is majoring in political science and sports a 3.43 cumulative GPA. He has volunteered with a Homeless Shelter Program through his Church and Baltimore's Pen Lucy Youth Mentoring program. Hopkins is set to host the conference championship tournament this weekend beginning on Friday, May 4. As the No. 1 seed, the Blue Jays will host No. 4 McDaniel on Friday in the opening round with the first pitch slated for 3 pm.
