April 30, 2002

LANCASTER, PA - Johns Hopkins senior Yani Rosenberg (Baltimore, MD/Gilman) was named the Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Week and sophomore Craig Cetta (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) earned Player of the Week honors for the week ending April 28. Rosenberg also earned Centennial Pitcher of the Week honors on April 8th, while Cetta is a first-time award winner this season.

Rosenberg went 2-0 last week to improve to 8-0 on the year and 27-3 for his career. He went the distance recording six strikeouts and allowing five hits in a 2-1 win versus Ursinus, and followed that by striking out nine in a complete game win over Muhlenberg. Rosenberg has a 0.82 ERA with 61 strikeouts in 55 innings this season. With his nine strikeouts against Muhlenberg, Rosenberg became JHU's all-time strikeout leader with 249 for his career, and he needs just two wins to tie the school record for career wins.

Cetta batted .588 (10-for-17) with six runs and 10 RBIs in five games last week. He was 3-for-3 with one run and two RBIs in a 6-1 win over Ursinus, then went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs in a win over Gettysburg. Cetta was also 4-for-5 with three runs and four RBIs as JHU clinched the top seed in the CC Tournament with a 14-3 win over Muhlenberg. He leads the team with 37 runs batted in and also has a team-high 22 hits with runners in scoring position.

The Blue Jays, 31-6 overall and ranked eighth in Division III, travel to face 30th-ranked Montclair State this evening at 7:00 p.m. JHU will then host the Centennial Conference Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
