Week In Review
Hopkins went 5-0 last week to improve to 22-4, 10-1 in the Centennial. The Blue Jays sandwiched two wins over Centennial Conference foe Gettysburg around a win over Villa Julie midweek. Hopkins wrapped up the week with a doubleheader sweep at Ursinus.

The Blue Jays hit .411 as a team last week with five starters hitting over .400 led by senior third baseman Todd Emr's .684 average. Senior Brian Duddie got the week off to a good start with six innings of one run ball at Gettysburg on Tuesday.

The Week Ahead
Another busy week awaits the Blue Jays as they try to move one step closer to a spot in the Centennial Conference playoffs. Hopkins opens the week by hosting Dickinson on Tuesday and plays Washington on Wednesday. On Friday, the Blue Jays travel to Carlisle to finish off the series with Dickinson. On Saturday, Hopkins hosts Franklin & Marshall in what should prove to be a crucial doubleheader.

Team/Individual Notes

I'm Honored: Senior third baseman Todd Emr was named the Centennial Conference Co-Baseball Player of the Week on Monday. It is the second time this season Emr has earned the honor. He hit .684 in five games last week with four extra base hits and went over 100 hits for his career. Teammate Brian Duddie earned a spot on the honor roll.

100x5: A pair of seniors both went over the 100 hit mark for their career last week. Senior catcher Tony Margve and Emr both went over the mark last week and became the fourth and fifth members of the senior class to reach the mark. It is the first time in school history, one class has had five members with 100+ career hits.

K's for Kuhlman: Senior right hander Ryan Kuhlman continues to climb the career top ten list for strikeouts at JHU. Kuhlman now has 167 career strikeouts which ranks ninth in JHU history and tied for 18th in Centennial Conference history.

20+ For 17 Straight: When the Blue Jays defeated Gettysburg on Friday afternoon, they recorded their 20th win of the season. Hopkins has now won 20+ games in 17 straight season under head coach Bob Babb.

DeJaVu??: The Blue Jays enter play on Tuesday with a record of 22-4. It is the exact same record the Blue Jays had 26 games in to last season.

Start Something in Second: The Blue Jays are out scoring their opponents 289-127 this season. They have found quite a bit of success in the second inning as Hopkins is out scoring its opponents 42-8 in the second inning this year.

Streaking (Part One): Hopkins is on a current five-game win streak. Earlier this season, the Blue Jays had a 13-game win streak which was tied with the 1980 team for the sixth longest in school history.

Double Your Pleasure: Emr leads the Blue Jays in both multi-hit games and multi-RBI games. He has 16 games with two hits or more including one game with five hits. Emr also has nine games this year with multi-RBIs. Sophomore Brian Youchak is second in multi-hit games with 14 while senior Jonas Fester and junior Ryan Biner are second in multi-RBI games with eight each.

Streaking (Part Two): Several Blue Jays carry multi-game hit streaks into this week's action. Margve is currently on a 16-game hit streak while senior Rob Pietroforte has connected in 13 straight contests.

Stoppers At the Back End of the Pen: Senior Ryan Kealy and sophomore Matt Wiegand have given the Blue Jays a solid pair of options out of the bullpen this year. Kealy enters this week's action with a 0.84 ERA and a record of 3-1 in 10.2 innings of work. He also has two saves to his credit. Wiegand has a 2.84 ERA with one win and one save in 12.2 innings of work.

Top Ten/Twenty: The NCWBA/D3Baseball.com week 8 poll was released on Monday. Thanks to the recent win streak, the Blue Jays have moved up to eighth in that poll. Hopkins is currently #15 in the ABCA poll released last week.

Leading the League: Hopkins continues to have the top batting average and ERA in the Centennial Conference. The Blue Jays bring a batting average of .395 into today and an ERA of 4.06. Hopkins also has the top five individual batting averages in the league led by Biner's .515 average.

Cracking Career Top Ten: Pietroforte has cracked the JHU career top ten in several statistical categories with his play this year. Pietroforte ranks in the top ten in hits (with 169), home runs (with 17), triples (with 11), doubles (with 37), RBIs (with 128), runs scored (with 134) and walks (with 74).

Battle at the Top: When the Blue Jays host Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, it will be a battle of two of the top teams in the Centennial Conference. The Diplomats were the only Centennial team to record two wins against the Blue Jays last season with a doubleheader sweep in Lancaster.
