BALTIMORE, MD - A Jenkintown, PA native, Chez Angeloni is the top returner to the Johns Hopkins pitching staff this season. Angeloni posted a 9-0 record and had a 4.32 ERA in 2008. The senior helped head coach Bob Babb earn his 800th career win at Johns Hopkins against Swarthmore in 2008 and threw two complete games in the 2008 College World Series to push Johns Hopkins into the national championship game. Angeloni was named the Most Outstanding Player of the College World Series and earned a spot on the CWS All-Tournament Team. The senior has thrown 9.1 innings in 2009 in two starts and three total appearances. Angeloni is majoring in economics. HopkinsSports.com: What is on your iPod on game day? Chez Angeloni: Neil Diamond. HS: Favorite superhero and why? CA: I liked Inspector Gadget because it was a sweet show. HS: Plans after graduation? CA: Play Baseball. HS: Best part of being a Blue Jay? CA: The Hopkins Family. HS: Favorite Bob Babb quote? CA: You never know which run will win the game. HS: Best road trip and why? CA: The best road trip was to the NCAA South Regional in 2008 because we finally got our chance to play in Wisconsin. HS: Teammate that inspires you? CA: Tim Rappazzo. HS: Favorite movie?
CA: Iron Man. HS: Favorite pregame meal? CA: Pasta, or PBJ. HS: When did you start playing baseball? CA: As a child, I was probably four or five years old. HS: How did you become a pitcher? CA: My dad got me lessons at a very young age. I had great control and everyone needs pitching. HS: Favorite professional sports team? CA: The Phillies and the Eagles. HS: Why Hopkins? CA: Johns Hopkins has great academics and competitive baseball. HS: What was the best thing about advancing to the 2008 NCAA College World Series?
