Hopkins Jumps Seven Spots to 14th in Latest Poll

BALTIMORE - The Johns Hopkins baseball team moved up seven spots to 14th in the latest 2002 Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's NCAA Division III poll. The Blue Jays, 12-4 overall, received 133 points and are the lone Centennial Conference school in the top-30. Hopkins was ranked 21st in the preseason poll after posting a 33-14 record in 2001.
The Blue Jays opened the season with six straight home games, winning four, before posting a 7-1 record in eight games in Ft. Myers, Florida. Hopkins then defeated Elizabethtown, 15-6, on Sunday, but suffered an 11-7 setback to St. Mary's College yesterday.
JHU hosts Western Maryland on Wednesday in the Centennial Conference opener for both teams at 3:00 p.m.
