Johns Hopkins junior first baseman Mike Durgala (Annandale, VA/Thomas Jefferson) was named the ECAC South Division III Baseball Player of the Week on Wednesday.
Durgala hit a team-best .529 last week as the Blue Jays went 7-0 in Clearwater, FL, leading the team with four doubles and 16 total bases. He went 2-for-4 with a double and a stolen base last Wednesday in a 4-3 victory over Colby-Sawyer, and the following day went 2-for-4 with a double in an 8-2 win over Nichols.
Durgala went 1-for-2 with a double and a run batted in during Friday's 2-0 victory over Edgewood, and was 4-for-4 with four RBIs and five runs scored in the 17-4 win over No. 24 Wheaton (MA) on Saturday. He also had a double, a three-run home run and a stolen base against the Lyons.
Durgala is batting .424 this season with four doubles, three home runs, 11 runs batted in and nine runs scored.
Durgala and the sixth-ranked Blue Jays, who are 14-0 overall and 1-0 in the Centennial Conference this season, travel to Gettysburg Friday for a 3 p.m. game with the Bullets.
