Lancaster, PA -
Johns Hopkins junior third baseman Paul Long (Oklahoma City, OK/Heritage Hall) was named the Centennial Conference Baseball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Long, who leads the Blue Jays with five hits and five runs scored this season, is batting .625 with two runs batted in and two stolen bases. He went 2-for-3 with a run scored, a run batted in and a walk in Friday's season-opening 7-4 win over Messiah, and was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI in the 11-1 triumph over SUNY New Paltz Sunday in the first game of a doubleheader.
In the nightcap, a 10-5 Hopkins victory, he entered in the bottom of the sixth inning as a pinch runner for junior Brian Harris (Longwood, FL/Lake Brantley), stole second and scored the game-winning run on a single by senior Tim Casale (West Hempstead, NY/Chaminade).
McDaniel hurler David Skoczlas was named the conference pitcher of the week.
Long and the sixth-ranked Blue Jays, who are 3-0 this season, face Suffolk Saturday at 3 p.m. in Clearwater, FL in the opening game of their Florida trip.
