Hopkins Picked First in Centennial Preseason Poll

LANCASTER, PA - The Johns Hopkins baseball team was picked to finish first in the Centennial Conference as selected by the conference's 10 head coaches. The Blue Jays received nine first-place votes and 81 points overall to outdistance Gettysburg, which was second in the voting with 66 points overall and one first-place vote. Ursinus was third in the poll with 60 total points, while Franklin & Marshall was fourth with 55 points.
Hopkins won its fourth Centennial Championship last season, the team's third in five years, with a 13-5 record in conference play and a 33-14 mark overall. JHU also boasts an all-time record of 109-34 (.762) in Centennial games, which is tops in the league.
The Blue Jays opened the 2002 season with a 7-5 win over Messiah last week and will next be in action tomorrow as JHU hosts Villa Julie at 3:00 p.m.
