LITTLE FALLS, NJ - Senior John Krivonak (Canfield, OH/Canfield) drove in the eventual game-winning run with a sacrifice fly as eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins defeated No. 30 Montclair State, 2-0, this evening in a six-inning rain-shortened non-conference baseball contest. The Blue Jays improved to 32-6 with the win, while the Red Hawks fell to 21-13 with their fifth consecutive loss.

JHU, which has won 20 of its last 22 games, scored both of its runs in the fourth inning. Senior Ben Taylor (Pawling, NY/Trinity-Pawling) singled to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a single by senior Mike DePalma (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk). Sophomore Brian Morley (Tappan, NY/Don Bosco Prep) walked to load the bases with one out and Krivonak drove in Taylor with a sacrifice fly to give Hopkins a 1-0 lead. DePalma scored two batters later on an error by the shortstop for the final 2-0 margin.

DePalma was 3-for-3 with a run scored, while Taylor was 1-for-3 with a run.

Senior Neal Lynch (Pennington, NJ/Notre Dame) improved to 3-0 on the year as he recorded four scoreless innings. He allowed one walk and four hits while striking out one batter. Sophomore Matt Righter (Clarion, PA/Lawrenceville Prep) earned his first career save with one perfect inning of relief. Jason Arre took the loss for Montclair surrendering two runs and eight hits in six innings. He struck out three and walked three.

The game was delayed an hour before being called in the sixth inning.

The Blue Jays return to action this weekend as JHU hosts the Centennial Conference Tournament on Saturday and Sunday. Hopkins is scheduled to play its first game on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
